Thursday afternoon the Water Council announced the second round of start ups chosen to work inside the Global Water Center.
The six selected fledgling companies will benefit from its BREW program. It stands for Business, Research Entrepreneurship in Wisconsin. Over their six month stay, the group completes a series of courses and, perhaps as importantly, rub shoulders with companies and scientists who work in the building.
We spoke with one of the start ups.
Marian Singer, along with her business partner Nicholas Hayes, are the creators of WelIntel. Singer explained why she thinks their "sensing technology" designed to monitor water levels of wells will succeed.

Cadens is Wisconsin-based company assists in the design, manufacture, installation and operation of economical small and micro-scale hydropower systems. They apply modern turbine design software, advanced materials and additive manufacturing / 3D printing. Hydro-lite – The Illinois team’s patented water sterilization device uses UV light and hand-powered electrical sources to eliminate bacteria, viruses and protozoa. The biotechnology and water company wirelessly measures and transfers, to an ELN, ionic levels through a patent pending technology. The approach improves productivity by reducing the cost of data collections and increasing accuracy.
Pellucid Water's technology evolved at the University Wisconsin Madison. Dense Medium Plasma is the application for decontamination of water. The technology is generated by an electric field producing charged particles for targeted chemical and biological reactions, and is able to remove dissolved chemicals from a solution.
phinding Solutions is a Wisconsin biotechnology company that integrates new technologies and hardware to improve the laboratory setting. They provide a disruptive lab device to improve efficiency and effectiveness of research. This intellisensor is a magnetic sir bar/ph meter that provides wireless data transfer to computer, electronic networks and other data aggregation systems.
WatrHub is a Toronto Canada-based data and analytics company that delivers actionable intelligence for municipal, industrial and agricultural water sectors to enable faster and more confident decision making.
Wellntel's founders are Milwaukee-based and developed a groundwater information system that measures water levels many times a day and shares it on a private website or app. It is real-time understanding of well and surrounding water table dynamics.
The entrepreneurs will move into the Global Water Center in the Walkers Point neighborhood on September 1.
