When former MIAD President Neil Hoffman announced he was retiring, the school conducted a 6 month international search for his successor. But it turned out that Jeffrey Morin, the person selected for the position, wasn’t too far away. Before he began his tenure at MIAD in June, Morin had been the Dean of the College of Fine Arts & Communication at UW-Stevens Point.

In addition to his academic and leadership skills, Morin is also an actively exhibiting artist, curator, lecturer and writer. He takes over the role of MIAD president at an exciting time for the school as it positions itself to be even more connected to the greater Milwaukee community.

"I worry when folk refer to us as something 'precious' because it seems fragile, it seems like it's to be protected, and maybe taken out once in a while to look at. But MIAD is much more alive than that, it's much more engaged than that," says Morin.

As a frequent visitor to Milwaukee and the Third Ward for 30 years, Morin took the step to adopt the city as his own and further invest himself into the possibilities MIAD can offer to its students and the city. He believe this can happen through relationships with local organizations and industries.

"I really envision us becoming much more community centered and really turning our gaze out into the community and seeing where and how we can serve," says Morin.
