New Milwaukee GOP Office Vandalized

The newly opened Republican field office in Milwaukee has been vandalized. The GOP office is notable for being the first-ever in one of the city's black neighborhoods.

Windows and doors with posters for President Trump and conservative state Supreme Court candidate Daniel Kelly have been splattered with black and white paint.

Wisconsin is a critical electoral win for both Democrats and Republicans this year. President Trump won the state by fewer than 23,000 votes.

So, the Republican Party of Wisconsin is looking to woo black voters in Milwaukee — a Democratic stronghold and the state’s largest city — where minorities make up the majority of the population. In total, there are nearly 300,000 registered voters in the city.

But within the first two weeks, candidate posters dotting the office windows have been scrawled over with spray paint. The state GOP said this won’t change its commitment to reaching voters in the community.

And it tweeted, “What kind of intolerance can we expect to see when Democrats bring their convention to Milwaukee this summer?”

Philip Shulman, spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, expressed the following: "unlike the Republican Party, we unequivocally condemn actions like this regardless of who is targeted."

The 2020 Democratic National Convention will take place in Milwaukee July 13-16.
