Central and Northeast Wisconsin Work to Recover from Severe Storms

Two tornadoes and powerful winds whipped through parts of Wisconsin late Tuesday and early Wednesday. The storms flattened structures, including barns and a church.

Outagamie County is asking for help from the Wisconsin National Guard to help clear storm damage.

One person died - a town chairman in Marinette County. He and another man were clearing debris from a road, when a vehicle struck the two. The second man was injured.

Members of Trinity Lutheran Church in New London plan to hold a service Thursday evening outside their crumpled worship space. A tornado leveled most of the church.

At the peak of outages, nearly 70,000 households were without power. Crews from WE Energies and Wisconsin Public Service Corp. continue repairing lines.

Gov. Walker toured the damage Thursday.

Meteorologists say winds roared at more than 100 mph, in some of the overnight thunderstorms.
