Over the past couple of years, interest rates have soared, and the number of houses for sale hasn’t kept up with the number of new homebuyers. The Metcalfe Park Homeownership Initiative is looking to break that barrier.

The City of Milwaukee’s Healing Spaces Initiative is bringing communal areas to blighted spaces in the Harambee neighborhood. The program has brought local leaders and residents together to decide what amenities the spaces should include.

Members of Congress are taking a closer look at economic disparities between communities of color and white neighborhoods in southeastern Wisconsin. That look included a bus tour and congressional hearing in Milwaukee Tuesday.

In January, Stacia Thompson was named the first executive director of the Sherman Phoenix Foundation.
