Pence To Visit Walworth County Manufacturer, As Democrats Talk Small Business Woes

Republican Vice President Mike Pence is scheduled to speak at noon Wednesday at a metal fabricating firm in Walworth County, Wis. The Tankcraft Corporation in the village of Darien makes fuel tanks and other products.

One of the company owners is board chair of a Wisconsin conservative think tank, and says he promotes liberty and individual rights.

The Trump campaign says Pence is scheduled to discuss “the failure of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden to put American workers first.”

But Pence and President Donald Trump came in for plenty of criticism Tuesday during a meeting of the Democratic National Convention's Small Business Council. Speakers charged the incumbents have done a poor job of blocking large companies from getting small business payroll loans, known as PPP, during the coronavirus pandemic.

U.S. Rep. Andrew Kim (D-New Jersey) is of Korean descent and said Biden would expand access to capital for small firms in underserved communities.

"This was a problem well before the coronavirus crisis, but now has shown it's something we have to take on board, as so minority, small business owners face (it) when reaching the American dream,” Kim said on a webcast.

Kim said small business owners have told him they want a steady hand at the wheel of government. The Democratic Party of Wisconsin alleges the Trump Administration's “poor leadership has cost the Badger State countless jobs.”
