People inside and outside of the Catholic Church are still trying to assess the long-term ramifications of the scores of documents released by the Milwaukee Archdiocese this week.
Former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Janine Geske has worked with sexual abuse victims in her role in the Restorative Justice Institute at Marquette University. She says the release of these documents could play an important part in the healing process for some victims.
"I think it makes a difference for the victims and survivors and their families, that the public can know what happened to them, and why it is that they can't 'just get over it,'" she says.
Geske is now a Distinguished Professor of Law at Marquette.
