Four Fall Arts Events Not to Miss

Gary Denness/flickr

Summer may be over, but there's plenty to do in the arts world this fall.

As much as we might hate to admit it, the season we think of as summer is behind us, even if the weather and the calendar might officially disagree.

But cushioning that blow is the beginning of a busy Fall arts season, which Milwaukee Magazine previews in its September cover story.

Managing editor Tim McCormick offers up four events you shouldn't miss this autumn.

  1. While her interest's are currently seeded in cosmonaut training, classical singer/songwriter Sarah Brightman comes to the beautiful Riverside Theater on September 29th .
  2. Stephen King, John Mellencamp, and T-Bone Burnett team up to present "Ghost Brothers Of Darkland County," a musical written by one of the greatest living horror writers, as well as two of America's strongest musicians. It plays October 29th at the Riverside Theater.
  3. The Milwaukee Film Festival continues this year with 15 days of film ranging from classic underground cinema to new independent films, starting on Sept. 26.
  4. Starting November 7th, the Milwaukee Art Museum will be exhibiting the surreal time-stopping sculptures of German artist Dirk Skreber.

Updated: Well, we got a lot of interest in this piece, so we included a few more events you should check out.

  • Acts of Wilderness, performed by the Wild Space Dance Company at Three Bridges Park the weekend of September 19th-21st
  • Soul of Flamenco at South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center on November 16th
