Marcus Goldhaber's New Album Shines Spotlight on Veterans

Marcus Goldhaber

Thinking about veterans does not have to be limited to Veteran's Day. That's the concept behind New York-based musician MarcusGoldhaber's new album Carry You On.  It’s an album with a unique hook, to get civilians and veterans to have meaningful conversations with each other.

Goldhaber has no connection to military life, except the experience of meeting veterans at his concerts and elsewhere in everyday life.

He explains his distinct approach to bridging the gap: "It's incumbent upon civilians to go beyond their gratitude and learn as much as they can about what many veterans are struggling with. I think that when veterans come home, the civilian population should be armed with a few tools that would allow them to help a veteran out if they need it."

We can't assume that all veterans are struggling, Goldhaber says. "Veterans are not monolithic, that's the big takeaway here. My goal with this project is to bring people to the arena because it's not an easy conversation to have."

Half the proceeds of his album benefit the organization Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.
