The fatal, mass shooting at Milwaukee’s Molson Coors brewery happened just three months ago. The shooting killed six people, including the shooter.

Unfortunately, this kind of tragedy isn't new to Milwaukee. Gun violence is an issue that continues to plague the city. But how we remember these mass shootings and memorialize them is unique to each of these events.

At the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin, there are photos to remember the people who were murdered during a mass shooting in 2012. At the Azana Spa in Brookfield, one of the salon stations has been turned into a memorial to those who died during another mass shooting in 2012. But there's no memorial at the Sheraton Hotel in Brookfield, where eight people, including the shooter, lost their lives.

"It's a question about: What is the right way to move on? ... Do you need to have this permanent remembrance of lives that were lost or is it better to remember what happened yourself, and move on? It's tough to know," says journalist Adam Rogan, whose article about these memorials was featured in this month's Milwaukee Magazine
