Milwaukee Music Roundup: 5 Card Studs, Guerilla Ghost, Postponedalone, Cashfire Sunset

5 Card Studs, Guerilla Ghost, Johanna Rose, Cashfire Sunset
(From left) The March 2020 Milwaukee Music Roundup includes music from 5 Card Studs, Guerilla Ghost, Johanna Rose, and Cashfire Sunset.

Matt Wild is one of the co-founders of Milwaukee Record, which describes itself as an online source for music, culture, and gentle sarcasm. Among the many cultural things Milwaukee Record keeps track of is a nearly exhaustive list of new music from local musicians.

Here's a selection of Matt's Milwaukee Music Roundup, which includes some special, and timely, songs:

5 Card Studs
"Covid One Nine"

"The 5 Card Studs, they've been around for a long time in Milwaukee and they are, I think it's safe to say, they're kinda a jokey cover band...like many things they do, this song kinda rides the line between fun and maybe a little bit of poor taste."

Guerilla Ghost
"Keep Your Distance"

"[Guerilla Ghost] makes aggressive, angry, militant kind of music. Definitely need to be in that kind of mood, it's not easy listening but I think they are terrific."

Matt also notes that proceeds collected from all of their music will be donated to the Cactus Club and X-Ray Arcade, two Milwaukee area music venues.

Postponedalone (Johanna Rose solo)
"Don't Make Me Stay"

"She describes it as 'a series of demos, voice memos, and songs recorded at 3 a.m., old and new, put together in one emotional outburst'. Even though she describes it as rough demos, it sounds fantastic."

Cashfire Sunset
"Wig"

"It's a perfect escape from everything going on right now, but also a perfect album to just lose yourself in."
