Mount Mary Students Strut Their Stuff In Annual CREO Showcase

Since returning to her alma mater as an executive fellow, fashion designer Donna Ricco has been working with the next generation of designers. Ricco graduated from Mount Mary College (now a university) and went on to a successful career as a dress designer, heading her own company.

It’s a big couple of weeks for the fashion students at Mount Mary, who are taking part in the event called CREO, the annual showcase of work from students in creative fields, including fashion design, studio art, art therapy, and others. The showcase culminates with the Student Designer Fashion Show on Friday, May 10, which includes contributions from both fashion design and merchandise management students.

While the latter group may not seem a likely fit for the showcase, Ricco explains their surprisingly creative work.

"They not only learn the business of fashion and the planning, and all of that, but they also can become stylists. They’re taking the product that’s already been designed and putting it together in a way that works for the retailer or the customers themselves," she says.
